Face wrinkle filling

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally-occurring glycosaminoglycan. It is a structural component of intercellular space, where, by binding water, it maintains a suitable volume and flexibility of tissue. There are two types of hyaluronic acid: animal-derived hyaluronic acid and acid synthesised by suitable bacterial cultures. Standard hyaluronic acid undergoes quick decay within 48 hours. It was hence a great achievement for medical sciences to create in the year 1996 so-called NASHA – non-animal stabilised hyaluronic acid, the stability of which is from six to 18 months.

Presently, aesthetic medicine knows a broad range of hyaluronic acid products.

The treatment is performed in an ambulant environment. The entire procedure lasts ca. 15-30 minutes.

Before the treatment, skin anaesthesia is applied through topical creams or, in particular when shaping and filling lips, by injections of the area with an anaesthesia product similar to dental anaesthesia.

After anaesthesia is achieved, the medical doctor injects the hyaluronic acid into an area of the face agreed upon beforehand with the patient.

In certain situations, right after the treatment slight redness, swelling or itching may emerge, where the product was used. The described reactions are short-term and usually disappear within a few days. In case of lip filling, the swelling may hold up to seven days. The patient may have a feeling of unevenness of the lips. Hence, the result achieved right after treatment may not be considered the end result. In certain situations, it is necessary to work on the achievement of an optimum effect within 2-4 weeks after the treatment.

The effects of hyaluronic acid treatment are maintained over 12-18 months.
